This study aims to investigate the EFL students’ perceptions of the use of YouTube as a learning medium to improve their speaking skills. By using a descriptive case study as the research design, the data are collected from the semi-structured interview of seven students of the English Education Department academic year 2022 in a university in Tasikmalaya, Jawa Barat, and analyzed by using thematic analysis. The findings show that the students perceived that YouTube as an effective, accessible, and flexible learning medium could improve their speaking skills, learning motivation, and learning interests by providing various videos and useful features to practice and improve their speaking skills (pronunciation with accents, vocabulary, grammar, fluency, comprehension, and intonation). However, the students faced internet connection problems that influenced the videos and audio quality and their learning focus. Therefore, this study concludes that YouTube can be considered to be used as a learning medium to improve students' speaking skills, but teachers are recommended to find solutions to overcome problems occurred in the use of YouTube as a learning medium.
